THE RESEARCH PROCESS
we begun by first looking into our competitors through competitive analysis. we chose stockx, goat, and stadium goods as the three closest-related competitors. we learned that the most overlooked aspect was the overall aesthetics, ability for users to communicate and customize their experience. furthermore, we discovered that while the smart search system was utilized, there was a lack of authentication that ensured trust between users and the platforms
with the information gathered, we moved on to market research. in this step we created a persona that reflected our target demographic, we took into account different wants and desires in the appplication and how to find a commonality. Through our personas we came to the following realizations:
the second stage of our research brought us to creating a task flow which represents several paths a user might take navigating the new feature of the app. before a user can post a nike product, it must first become approved through our authentication feature. this maintains the integrity of the nike brand and also verifies user content
due to goat’s interactive capabilities, we deemed them as nikes strongest competitior
We want users to share their shoes and interests while at the same time ensuring validity in what they share. In order for this to be successful, users must submit their photos for verification, interact with one another by posting, replying and commenting to stay up-to-date. Our research goal through this is to expand Nike’s existing brand and culminate an inclusive platform for users to interact .
The Final Product
Mid-Fidelity Mockups
Next we began laying the foundation for where logos, buttons and icons would go. Attention was given in the layout so that users would have a clearer understanding of the flow of SNKRS
We also decided to incorporate a main “+” button on the footer which would allow a user to authenticate their sneakers into their profile. Apps such as MyFitnessPal drew us to utilizing it so users could have an expedited process in the flow
The Authenticator mockup gathered its form from my personal experience using Wells Fargo’s mobile banking app. I found that an easy tap of the screen and snap of a photo was the simplest and most convenient flow
Further attention was given to the amount of contrast in our layout. We wanted to showcase as much as we could but without overloading the user with a gigantic amount of content. (WATCH PRESENTATION VIDEO TO GATHER MORE INFORMATION TO ADD)
High-Fidelity Mockups
Finally, we added a splash of life to our wireframes with color and finesse. buttons were added and prototyped, drop-down filters were created, and IPhone mockups were utilized to mimic the look on todays devices.
We incorporated aspects of various social media messaging features in our application, most notably the profile photo showing up when a message is once read by the receiver. The other feature is the indication of how many posts and followers a user has.
Regarding changes from mid-fidelity, we did away with the inbox and setting icon in the upper right corner and replaced it with a search and hamburger menu. We also added the following icons to the footer. From left to right they are:
Home
Discover
Notifications
Profile
We also enhanced the Upload Photos screen to ensure optimal authentication of shoes being uploaded to the user’s profile. NIKE would then confirm or deny the SKU and tag of the products in their database. By incorporating this feature we cut down the chances for bots and unauthenticated accounts being used on our application, a big problem that we saw in our competitors.
the speed of the application was desired to keep up without lagging
Validity of the applications contents was paramount and consistent
How simple and consistent it is to reach people and gather followers to expand relavency in the community was needed
being able to keep up with ever-evolving trends without doubt was seen as a hesitancy towards applications
