THE RESEARCH PROCESS

in the search to discover a solution we took the following research steps:

our desires were for users to share with their friends and community their active lifestyle accomplishments and their discoveries into businesses practices and initiatives. they can do this by (EDIT this sounds like snkrs: shoes and interests while at the same time ensuring validity in what they share in order for this to be successful, users must submit their photos for verification, interact with one another by posting, replying and commenting to stay up to date). Our Research goals through this was to ensure users are able to properly maneuver through the app and to understand its purpose.

The Final Product

BEGINNING TO END: THE EVOLUTION OF OUR DESIGN PROCESS

The design of a unique app that holds business accountable to the practices they conduct and the people who support them

for our methodology we conducted a unmoderated, remote test of our high-fidelity mockups via a survey on maze with 15 anonymous participants, they were asked to complete the following tasks and respond to the following questions/tasks:

Badge Testing: our goal is to increase eco-friendly accountability. by completing eco-friendly activities, you can earn rewards. explore the rewards system for recycling goods

Interest Testing: as an eco-friendly user, you want to learn more about clean energy. locate the information about the subject in the app

Move Goals: you’ve been swimming laps for your morning exercise, and now you’re curious about your cumulative monthly total. check the progress of your monthly swim goals

Test Results Takeaways

this test highlighted several areas of opportunity within our application. through infinity mapping and card sorting, we learned that two of our most common pain points were:

it was unclear to that our screen was scrollable

several users reported that the navigation bar remaining at the bottom of the screen was confusing and not user friendly

there was a high misclick rate on several of our screens, but there was a 64.3%-80% average success rate. this was likely a result of the wording being misleading and confusing when we wrote a exploratory task

our test would have been more intuitive if we had prototyped multiple paths instead of just one. we discovered our users were clicking rapidly to find the “live" button”

usability Testing: our feedback from this test allowed for us to create a moodboard, brand guide, and style tile, of which was implemented into our high-fidelity mockups

surveys/interviews: in our survey contained six (6) open-ended questions asking about the look and feel of the application. there were 26 participants. In our survey we had the following questions:

competitive analysis: Through the insight into our closest competitors, we discovered that although they centered around environmentally centered and personal accountability models, almost none of them contained both the aspect of providing company transparency and the ability to log personal initiatives.

Initial Iterations

Mid-Fidelity Mockups

High-Fidelity Mockups

STYLE TILE

we conducted interviews with eight (8) potential users. in our interview we had the following questions:

  • One a scale of 1-10, how engaged would you say you are with environmental issues

Adding vibrant colors, engaging icons and user pictures, we brought to life our mockups to the fullest extent. we ensured that icons were easily recognizable, prompts were understandable, and engagement was seamless.

From pad to digital we continued building on our sketches to see how they would look built in figma.
